Filet Crochet Aethelmearc Escarbuncle

I've not tested this pattern as of yet, but plan to as soon as I finish my bag project. I thought that this pattern could have a wide range of usese. You could extend the borders on either side to make place mats, create multiple squares, and solid squares, and piece them together to make a table cloth. Make 2 larger ones and attach on 3 sides and insert a white pillow, then finish sewing together. The uses are endless. LOL So, first I will explain how to do this particular filet pattern. I just came across a fillet market bag pattern that gave me the idea of turning this pattern into a market bag! (See it here.)

filled mesh filled mesh = 3 DC
open mesh open mesh = CH2, DC

Here is the fillet pattern. Below it I will start the pattern in text to give you the idea of how to follow it. Thread and hook size, as well as gauge will all depend on the project you are planning on doing, so play around and have fun.

Escarbuncle Fillet Pattern

Row 1 Loosely chain 95, DC in 3rd chain from hook, DC in each chain across (93)
Row 2 CH2 and turn (counts as first DC), DC in first 44 DC, CH2 DC in next 46 DC.
Row 3 CH2 and turn, DC in first 44 DC, CH2 DC in next 46 DC, CH2 and turn. (Be sure the CH2 lines up over the previous row's CH2)
Row 4 CH2 and turn, DC in first 8 DC, CH2 DC in next 31 DC, (CH1 DC1) 3 times, DC in next 30 DC, (CH2 CD1), DC in last 9 DC.
Continue to follow diagram above to complete pattern.

If you have any questions please feel free to send them to Pixie at Thescorre dot org. I would also LOVE to see (and share) pics of what you've created with the pattern.
