Persona

9th C. Irish, born on her family's farm outside the town of Greenhills, county Dubhlinn, Ireland on the seventh of March in the year 841. Each morning she woke up early to tend to the few animals on the farm before checking the crops of oats and barley. There would be times in which she would help haul buckets of water from the nearby creek to water the crops and animals. The creek was fed by a fresh spring, and offered us lots of fresh water. After the morning chores she would help her mother cook, and do the washing. After a busy morning she would take some time to herself and go to the field behind the house. There was a circle of trees around a large rock and she would sit there and look at the clouds, daydreaming of what things were like outside of this small area she lived in. She often dreamed of travel but she was not sure why.

One day, while she was out on her rock, her mother approached. It was the morning of her birthday, the day she was to come of age. Her mother knew she would never accept the ways of their village, and that she would never be happy staying at home tending to her husbands every need. She had too much of her true fathers blood in her, as she would soon find out. Her mother held her face in her hands tears starting to form in her eyes, her face was pale and her eyes red as though she had already been crying. Sorcha asked what was wrong, and that is when her mother began the tale of her true origins. She grew up believing that the man that raised her was her father, but on this day she learned the truth. Her mother had brought a sack with her, and when she was done she told Sorcha that she had two options; one was to stay here and be a proper lady or she could go in search of her father. Handing Sorcha the sack, they said their tearful goodbyes.

After finding out she was a product of the Viking raids she went in search of her true father, needing to know who she truly was. She left her family’s farm and has yet to return. She searched for her birth father, and eventually found him, but it was not the welcome she hoped for. After some time however, he warmed up to her and allowed her to stay with him for a bit. He informed her that her mother was more than willing to give herself to him when they invaded and that he offered to bring her with him but she refused, calling his people savages. With this news and some training, he sent her on her way to find her own life.

Not wanting to return home to the lie of a life she had, she decided to continue her travels. As her journey continued she was abducted by a Mongol and had his child. She managed to escape from him with their daughter and continued on her journey of self-exploration. Eventually she returned to England and settled down for a while, as she takes on the craft of illumination and fabric arts. It is during this time that she meets Dónal an Stràcair. He and she proceeded to travel together throughout Europe while he peddles his wares and during that time she births his two children, a daughter and a son. And now we bring you to the current time.
