Roll each portion into a snake, then stack the snakes together. Twist them together, then roll the new snake smooth. Repeat as needed to marble the shades of clay together. | |

Roll a small amount of left over clay into a ball. Dip it into coarse black embossing powder then roll the ball gently to adhere powder. | |

Using selected Push Mold, create embellishment and remove from mold. | |

If another layer is desired for the front of the book, flatten a portion of gold clay and place a sheet of silver leaf on it. Roll the clay thinner, forcing the leaf to crackle on the surface. Cut a small rectangle from this sheet. | |

Bake covers and embellishments at 275 degrees F for 30 minutes. Allow to cool, or plunge items into icy water. | |

If antiquing is desired, smear a liberal amount of burnt umber acrylic paint onto clay pieces. Wipe away excess before paint dries. | |

Create text block by accordion folding a piece of paper 2.25 x 18 inches long into a square. | |

Tie bead onto elastic, and secure under text block as it is adhered to the clay covers. | |

Glue embellishments on front cover to complete. | |
